What is Object-Oriented UX?
Object-Oriented UX (OOUX) is a design approach that simplifies complex systems by focusing on the core objects users interact with, rather than centering on user tasks.
By identifying these fundamental objects, along with their attributes, relationships, and the actions users can perform on them, OOUX creates digital experiences that align with users’ natural mental models. This method fosters intuitive interfaces that mirror real-world structures, enhancing usability and scalability.
The building blocks of OOUX:
How I became an OOUX Strategist:
I learned about OOUX through a mentor at work, and since then have taken the Self-Paced Masterclass and the rigorous 10-week OOUX Masterclass Certification to understand the variety of ways to leverage the framework. Outside of formal training, I cohosted an OOUX club at Insight in which we created a space for our design teammates to share resources and discuss how we can apply the methodology successfully to our client projects.

How I use OOUX in my work:
I utilize OOUX to demystify complex systems during discovery workshops and during my own design process, especially when starting a new project that is an unfamiliar domain. This approach transforms abstract ideas into concrete, user-centered designs.
